I agree that the sales forecast to be the primary driver a firm’s financial forecast that results in its financial plan. Sales Forecast are conditional in that a firm prepares the forecast prior to developing strategic and tactical plans.With this forecasting, they can determine the product/services prices, which distribution channel to market, what strategy they need in order to promote the product, and lastly determine the profit and sales from the products sold.

Sales forecast can be disrupted if the production capacity is inadequate or inexcessive, and if there is a need for marketing/sales revision. Changes in price and production scheduling can also affect the sales forecasts.

The sales forecast is essential to the planning of a business.  The sales factors helps to determine if there is adequate staff to meet business needs, if more marketing or sales efforts are needed to gain new customers, if goals are on target, helped to develop proactive plans to ensure target goals are met.  An organization can determine if they have adequate cash flow to pay their bills and meet their obligations.  I would agree that the sales forecast is one of the primary drivers of a firm’s financial planning.
