Speech discussion question 4 of them

Ted Talks: What I’ve Learned from My Autistic Brothers (5:20)

According to Chapter 2, schemata are sets of information based on cognitive and experiential knowledge that guide our interaction. We rely on schemata to help us make sense of the world around us. Sometimes schemata become so familiar that we use them as scripts, which prompts mindless communication and can lead us to overlook new information that may need to be incorporated into the schema.  Choose one of the videos in Module 2 and apply this concept.

After reading the chapter Group Communication, we understand small groups better. We read that there is no set number of members for the ideal small group. A small group requires a minimum of three people (because two people would be a pair or dyad), but the upper range of group size is contingent on the purpose of the group. When groups grow beyond fifteen to twenty members, it becomes difficult to consider them a small group based on the previous definition.

Write about a group experience you have had. Watch the video “Built a tower, Build a Team” and use it for support while you write.  Answer the following questions:

Did you enjoy the group experience?

Why or why not?

How could you have improved the experience?
